No hot water? We'll have it running again
the same day where we can.
Hot water is one of those things you don't notice until it's gone. Then suddenly it's a cold shower, a tank that won't fire up, or a puddle around the unit. At T.U.R.D.S we repair, service and install hot water systems across Brisbane's Northside and the Moreton Bay region.
We cover every common system: electric, gas, heat pump, solar, and continuous flow. Most repairs are sorted on the spot. Replacements are usually done the same day or the next, depending on the unit and the parts.

A failing hot water system rarely fails at a convenient time. You notice it in the morning before work, or on a Sunday afternoon with a houseful. The right plumber turns up that day, diagnoses the unit properly, and tells you straight whether it's worth repairing or whether replacement is the smarter move.
T.U.R.D.S Plumbing is a local, family-owned Northside business with 16 years in the industry. Our vans carry parts for the common faults across all five main system types, so most repairs are completed on the spot. For replacements, we hold a range of common units in stock or can usually source a new unit the same day.
Every job is done by a licenced, insured tradesperson. No subcontractors. Upfront fixed pricing on every repair, service, or install. No call-back surprises.
Hot water systems are tough but not indestructible. They sit there working hard for 10 to 15 years until something inside gives up. The cause depends on the system type and how it's been looked after.
The cause matters because it changes the answer. A heating element on a six-year-old electric tank is a quick repair. A rust-through on a twelve-year-old tank is a replacement. Diagnosis is the first thing we do on site.

Hot water systems usually warn you before they fail completely. Catching the signs early often means a repair instead of a full replacement.
A good rule of thumb: if the unit is under 8 years old and the fault is a single component, repair. If the unit is over 10 years old and showing multiple symptoms, replacement usually works out cheaper across the next few years. We'll tell you straight on site which one applies.
Call us straight away if you've got no hot water at all, water leaking from or pooling around the unit, a gas smell near a gas system, or rusty water coming through the taps. These don't get better on their own.
Increasingly common as homeowners look to cut running costs. We install, service, and repair heat pump systems and can advise on whether one suits your usage and household size. See our Solar & Heat Pump Hot Water Systems page for more.
Roof-mounted collectors and split systems. We handle panel, pump, controller and tank faults, and we install new systems with electric or gas boost. See our Solar & Heat Pump Hot Water Systems page for the detailed run-through.
Tankless gas units that heat water on demand. Great for households where space is tight or hot water demand is steady. We install, service, and repair all common brands.
Installation, Service, Maintenance & Upgrades
New build, replacement, or upgrade. We size the system to your household, supply the unit, install it to spec, connect the plumbing and (where applicable) the gas or electrical, and test it before we leave.
Most repairs start with a proper diagnosis: pressure test, electrical test, component check. We carry parts for the common faults across the main system types, so most repairs are completed in one visit.
Annual servicing on tank systems extends the unit's life and catches problems before they cost you the tank. See the maintenance section below for what's involved.
Switching from electric or gas to solar or heat pump is the most common upgrade we do. We assess your existing setup, run the numbers on rebates, and quote the changeover as a single fixed-price job.
A bit of regular care doubles the working life of most hot water systems. Annual servicing on a storage tank includes checking the pressure relief valve, flushing sediment from the tank, inspecting the anode rod (the sacrificial rod that stops the tank rusting through), checking the thermostat and element, and testing the system end to end.
For gas systems, we also check the burner, pilot, and gas line. For solar, the panels, pump and controller. For heat pumps, the refrigerant circuit and electronics.
Most failures come from one of two things: an anode rod that wasn't replaced when it should have been, or a pressure relief valve that's been leaking unnoticed. A 30-minute service catches both.
T.U.R.D.S is a local, family-owned Northside business with 16 years in the industry. Every hot water job is done by a licenced, insured tradesperson, not a sub or an apprentice on their own. We cover all five main system types, so we're not pushing you toward whichever system happens to be on the van.
Free quotes across the Moreton Bay area. Upfront fixed pricing once we know what's involved. Same-day repairs and replacements where the parts and unit are available.
Step by Step
We diagnose the fault on site. For repairs, we quote the fix upfront. For replacements, we recommend the system that suits your household and budget, and quote the changeover as a fixed price.
We carry out the repair or installation. Most jobs are completed the same day. Where a specific unit needs to be ordered, we'll usually have it within 24 hours.
We test the system end to end, confirm hot water is running properly at the taps, and walk you through the unit and the warranty. Old units removed and taken away.
If your electricity bills have crept up, or if your current tank is on its last legs and you're looking at a replacement anyway, switching to solar or heat pump is worth a serious look. Rebates and incentives are available, running costs are significantly lower, and the systems pay themselves back over the warranty period. Tank systems generally last 10 to 15 years with regular servicing, sometimes longer. Continuous flow gas units often last longer because there's no tank to rust. Heat pumps and solar systems sit in the 10 to 15 year range too. Replacing the anode rod every few years is the single biggest thing you can do to extend the life of a tank.
It depends on the system type and size. Electric tanks are usually the cheapest upfront, gas continuous flow sits in the middle, heat pump and solar are the highest upfront but cheapest to run. We give you a fixed-price quote once we know your household size and existing setup. Call us on 0429 359 081.
A repair on a unit under 8 years old usually makes sense. A repair on a unit over 10 years old often doesn't, because the next fault is usually around the corner. We'll tell you straight on site which option is the better spend.
A like-for-like replacement is usually 2 to 4 hours. A change of fuel type (electric to gas, or electric to heat pump) takes longer because the connections change. We'll let you know when we quote.
