Stormwater Plumber Brisbane Northside

Blocked, broken or new. Diagnosed properly.
Repaired or installed to spec.

A stormwater system that isn't working doesn't announce itself until it rains. Then suddenly there's water pooling against the house, an overflowing pit, or a downpipe dumping into the garden bed. T.U.R.D.S Plumbing handles stormwater repairs, installations, and blocked stormwater drains across Brisbane's Northside and the Moreton Bay region.

We diagnose the problem with CCTV before we quote, clear and repair where we can, and install new systems to council spec when needed. From a single cracked downpipe connection to a full new stormwater run for a shed, granny flat, or extension, every job is done by a licenced, insured tradesperson.

Upfront fixed pricing. No subcontractors. 24/7 for emergencies.

Stormwater Drain Repairs and Installations Brisbane Northside: Blocked, Broken or New

Stormwater problems fall into three buckets. The drain is blocked and water has nowhere to go. The pipe is broken or has shifted, so water is escaping where it shouldn't. Or you're adding something to the property (a shed, a slab, a new structure) and you need a new stormwater connection that meets council requirements.

We handle all three. Our vans carry CCTV cameras, high-pressure jetters, pipe location gear, and parts for new connections, so most jobs are sorted in a single visit. For larger installations, we'll quote a fixed price upfront and schedule the work to suit your build timeline.

T.U.R.D.S Plumbing is a local, family-owned Northside business with 16 years in the industry. We know the Moreton Bay council requirements. We know the older estates with concrete and terracotta stormwater lines, and we know the new builds where the system was put in last year and is already showing problems.

What Causes Stormwater Drain Problems?

Stormwater pipes carry rainwater from your roof, driveway, and yard out to either the council main, a legal point of discharge, or an on-site soakage system. They're built to move a lot of water quickly, but they're not invincible.

The most common causes we see:

  • Tree roots growing into pipe joints, particularly in older concrete and terracotta lines
  • Build-up of leaves, sediment, dirt, and small debris washed in from gutters
  • Crushed or cracked pipes from vehicle weight, ground movement, or building work
  • Pits and grates blocked at the surface by leaves and silt
  • Misaligned joints that have shifted over time
  • Stormwater plumbed illegally into the sewer (common on older properties)
  • Undersized or poorly installed connections from previous owners or contractors
  • Downpipes disconnected from the underground system

The cause matters because it changes the fix. A blocked grate is a five-minute clear. A cracked pipe under the driveway is excavation. CCTV tells us which one we're dealing with before we quote.

Signs You Have a Stormwater Issue

Stormwater problems usually only show up when it rains. The trick is to spot them early so you can sort them out before the next big downpour.

  • Water pooling against the house, near the slab, or in low spots in the yard
  • An overflowing stormwater pit during or after rain
  • Downpipes that gurgle, back up, or spill water out the top
  • Wet patches or sinking ground above where the pipe runs
  • Water coming up through a grate instead of draining away
  • Mould, damp, or efflorescence on internal walls near the slab edge
  • A new build or recent landscaping work that's now causing drainage issues

When to Call a Plumber

Some surface clogs (leaves in a grate, a blocked pit cover) you can clear yourself. Call us when:

  • The blockage is below ground or you can't see where it is
  • Water keeps pooling in the same spot after every rain
  • A pipe is visibly cracked, crushed, or disconnected
  • You're building a shed, extension, or pool and need a new stormwater connection
  • You need a Form 43 lodged with Moreton Bay Council
  • A CCTV inspection is needed for insurance, council, or pre-purchase purposes

If you're not sure, call us anyway. We'll ask a few questions and let you know if it's something you can handle yourself or something that needs a plumber on site.

Stormwater Services We Offer on the Northside

We'll tackle any stormwater service on your residential or commercial property.

Don't see what you're looking for here? Please contact us:

Blocked Stormwater Drains

01
Leaves, sediment, dirt, and roots block stormwater drains over time. We jet them clean and CCTV the line to confirm the system runs free from end to end.

Broken or Cracked Stormwater Pipes

02
Cracked, crushed, or misaligned pipes get located with CCTV and sonde, then repaired or replaced. We'll quote the work upfront so you know exactly what's involved before any digging starts.

New Stormwater Installations

03
New build, extension, granny flat, pool, or driveway? We design and install stormwater systems to council spec, connect to the existing network or legal point of discharge, and certify the work where required.

Stormwater Pit Cleaning & Repairs

04

Pits clog with silt and leaves over the years and can crack or shift in the ground. We clean them out, repair damaged covers and grates, and replace pits where needed.

Shed & Structure Stormwater Connections

05

Building a shed, carport, or other roofed structure on the Northside? The roof has to drain to the legal stormwater system, and Moreton Bay Council requires a Form 43 plumbing certificate for the work. We handle the connection and the council compliance from start to finish. See our Shed Stormwater Connections and Form 43 page for the full details.

CCTV Stormwater Inspections

06

Every diagnostic stormwater job starts with a CCTV inspection. We provide written reports for insurance, council, or pre-purchase use. See our CCTV drain camera inspections page for more.

How We Repair and Install Stormwater Drains: Equipment and Methods

We don't show up and start guessing. Every job starts with a clear picture of what's actually happening in the pipe before we choose a method.

CCTV Camera Assessment

Every job starts with a camera. We feed it through the line to find the blockage, breakage, or misalignment, and use a sonde to locate the issue above ground. You see what we see before we quote.

High-Pressure Jetting

For blockages caused by sediment, leaves, or root intrusion, jetting clears the line completely. More on our high-pressure water jetting page.

Pipe Repair, Relining & Replacement

Cracked, crushed, or collapsed pipes either get repaired in place (where the damage is localised), relined (where the run is long but the pipe wall is intact enough to take a liner), or excavated and replaced. CCTV decides which option fits, and we quote each one with upfront fixed pricing.

New Stormwater Connections

For new builds and additions, we install the run from downpipes or sub-soil drains through to the legal connection point. We work to council spec, pressure and water-test the system, and provide certification where required.

Generally, the property owner is responsible for the stormwater system from the roof and yard up to the legal point of discharge (usually the council main or a kerb outlet). Anything past that point sits with the council. We can confirm where the boundary falls during the assessment.

For repairs to existing lines, usually no. For new installations, including shed and structure connections, Moreton Bay Council requires a Form 43 plumbing certificate. We handle the lodgement as part of the job.

Often, yes. If the pipe is structurally intact enough to take a liner, relining avoids excavation and finishes the job in less time. CCTV tells us whether it's an option. Where the pipe has collapsed or is heavily fractured, replacement is the only real fix.

Leaves and sediment from gutters, tree roots growing in through joints, crushed or cracked pipes, and blocked pits at the surface. We see all of it. CCTV identifies which one it is.

Yes. Roots get in through pipe joints or small cracks and grow quickly inside. They block the line and, over time, can damage the pipe itself. Jetting clears the roots and CCTV shows whether the pipe is still sound.

Yes. Any roofed structure that drains rainwater needs to be connected to the legal stormwater system, and the work needs to be done by a licenced plumber. Moreton Bay Council requires a Form 43 certificate. See our Shed Stormwater Connections and Form 43 page for the full details.
